Can We Stop Psychos Before They Act?

Sick MofoIt’s the same question over and over. HOW did we not know this was going to happen? WHY couldn’t we prevent it? WHO could have known he was this sick? WHAT can we do to make sure it doesn’t happen again?

It is unfortunately that dozens of lives have to be lost and hundreds more affected by such a tragedy in order to raise several social and political issues. Although this event is a tremendous tragedy and in no way would we desecrate their memories, this senseless act could create awareness and change that would help prevent future victimes. Is the answer gun control? Banning guns altogether? Locking up anyone we think would do this? What are the signs? Who makes the decision? How do we prove it? These are the questions, but there’s no answers.

Much of our immediate response is due to rage. Outrage to be exact. If the opportunity were to have existed..whereas any of us had a clear shot at his head with a sniper rifle…and had to make a moral judgment to kill him while he was carrying on his personal vendetta against the world… any of us would’ve taken the shot. Killed him. Head shot. Gone.

Could the school have done anything to prevent it? The media thinks so. They’ve been raking these guys over the coals for not contacting all 26000 students, 10000 faculty and over 2500 acres of school grounds to warn them that a killer was coming. Difficult circumstances to say the least.

Was it the doctor’s fault? The ones who diagnosed that he was an imminent danger to himself and others? Or, the gun store owner who sold him the guns legally? Should he have seen that the guy was going to flip and go on a rampage as he was handing the ammo over the counter? Don’t think so.

So, what’s the answers? Anyone?
