Restaurant Owner Tosses OJ And His Posse
In a controversial move, a Lousiville restaurant owner with a personal dislike to OJ and his negative image, refused to serve him and his posse of B-celeb hanger-oners during Derby week. Jeff Ruby, the owner, felt the attention that OJ drew was a negative impact on his clientele and opted to boot the unconvicted murder suspect. As a result, OJ’s attorney team (which apparently goes with him everywhere like blood sucking leeches) are screaming ‘RACE!’ is the reason.
On the MSN blog there’s over 100 comments on this story with about 4 or 5 being in behalf of OJ while the rest applaud the restaurant owner. In fact, according to eye witnesses to the event, the patrons in the restaurant at the time applauded when Mr. Ruby announced to OJ’s table that he wouldn’t serve him/them which forced them to leave the premises.
Keeping in mind that OJ was found ‘Not Guilty’ by a jury in the criminal trial doesn’t necessarily mean he’s ‘innocent’. There’s a big difference. And in the eyes of Mr. Ruby he felt that the negative image that OJ projects with his arrogance and failure to accept his responsibility in the murders ( keep in mind, OJ recently wrote a highly controversial book “IF I Did It…” ) that the mere sight of him in the restaurant getting attention from other patrons sickened him.
So, the question is… was Mr. Ruby within his legal rights to do this? Can OJ sue him for racial discrimination? How is OJ going to pay his lawyers when all his money is tied up in annuities so the winners of the civil trial can’t get a nickel out of him for the award they were given by the courts when he was found ‘liable’ for the murders?
